Upcycle and Innovation of Food Waste at Food Partners World ApS

About the project

The growing interest of sustainable production increases the interest in using waste as a secondary resource. Every year, Denmark waste 814.000 tons of food which could have been used, where 385.000 tons of this are from the food industry and 96.000 tons are from retail trade and wholesale. Therefore, we see an opportunity in increasing the yield of these end-of-life products, to sustainable products that can return to the market.

The project will be divided into three phases:

  1. Review of waste types and amount, where is the shrinkage and how to collect it.
  2. What processing is required to use the products in the value chain again.
  3. Processing including microbiology, how and which products can be re-cycled, and which retailers could be interested in the product.

In conclusion, answering how we should use the waste of fruits and vegetables accumulated in the retail trade.
