SDU Biotechnology section at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Environmental Technology, Faculty of Engineering, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications. for a 3-year PhD position in natural products chemistry. The PhD position is available from 1st of September or as soon as possible thereafter.
The PhD position is part of the consortium research project Fucosan funded by the European Union/European Regional Development Fund (Interreg). The PhD is expected to conduct research investigating the extraction, purification, chemical characterization and biological activities of fucoidans from brown macroalgae.
The PhD fellow will work in close collaboration with the partners of the consortium project both in Denmark and internationally. We offer a challenging position in an international and stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment for conducting research of high quality, and an excellent opportunity for collaboration both within SDU and with renowned international research groups. The PhD student will also participate in co-supervision of BSc and MSc students and contribute in teaching activities of Bachelor courses.

The PhD Fellowship is either a 3-year position (5+3).
A 5+3 PhD Fellowship is a three-year salaried position. Enrollment and employment ends automatically by the end of the period. The holder of the fellowship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.
Employment is governed by the Protocol on PhD Research Fellows signed by the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations), Cirkulære om overenskomst for Akademikere i staten 2015.
